Michael K. Osland

Michael practices in the areas of corporate commercial law, commercial and residential real estate, secured lending, as well as Indigenous law and land claims implementation.  Michael has extensive experience in Indigenous economic development, including impact benefit agreements. Michael also has extensive knowledge of Nunavut’s unique system of land administration.

Michael’s practice has focused on the North for more than 20 years, and he represents a wide range of Inuit associations, Inuit firms, banks and commercial lending institutions, construction and real estate development corporations, not-for-profit organizations and private business enterprises.

Michael completed his bachelor of arts in philosophy from the University of Ottawa in 1984 and his law degree from the University of Ottawa in 1987, where he graduated cum laude.  Michael was called to the Ontario bar in 1989, the Northwest Territories bar in 1995 and the Nunavut bar in 1999.

Away from the office, Michael enjoys reading, music, travel with his wife, and visiting with his children and family.
